The Boring Truth About Exciting Results

Quick little story about an “aha moment” I had a while back…

It had been a really long day and I was exhausted. I couldn’t wait to go to bed.

As soon as walked into my room I was SUPER GRATEFUL. Not just for the chance to finally get into bed, but …

I’d totally forgotten that I’d changed my sheets earlier … and like I do everyday, made my bed. (I practically do this on auto pilot now!)

I mean, that’s the best, right?

Your bed is so welcoming and feels SO cozy and comfy when it’s all organized and clean!

And it doesn’t just feel good… it also makes it easier to get a good night of sleep.

It’s one of life’s little pleasures …

 And here’s the point...

That pleasure – that payoff – was made possible thanks to a boring habit.

Who actually looks forward to making their bed or changing the sheets? 

I’m guessing not a lot of people.

But we do it anyway because of the payoff 

The fact is that almost every small pleasure in life — and every success! — is built on a foundation of everyday habits.

And a lot of those habits are boring.

Yes, I said it. Some habits are boring.

But their after-effects are NOT boring, at all.

They can affect:

  • Your health
  • Your fitness level
  • Your skills
  • Even your relationships & your retirement account!

There’s nothing sexy about the process — it’s just a matter of making good choices every day, and showing up and doing the work.

By that I mean:

  • Choosing to eat healthy foods — even when you don’t want to
  • Choosing to exercise regularly especially when you don’t want to
  • Choosing to keep working on a new skill until you master it — even when you don’t feel like it

The payoffs are definitely WORTH IT.

So today I have a little challenge for you.

Take a few minutes and think about ONE habit you can practice — starting today — that will help you move closer to a healthier & fitter body.

From there, put that little habit on repeat … even when it gets boring.

Because I promise you, the results definitely won’t be.
